Reporting what happened

Two events oblige a licensee to tell ATF something without being asked — a multiple handgun sale, and a theft or loss — and each of them then has to land in the acquisition and disposition record. Every one of those carries its own deadline, and none of them waits for an inspection.

In this chapter

  • When a sale of more than one handgun triggers a report, and how fast it must go
  • What counts as a theft or loss, who must be told, and within what period
  • How each of these events lands in the acquisition and disposition record
